I removed the subject's ethnicity from the lede per WP:MOSBIO. Unless its part of his notability, it doesn't belong. I was reverted with an edit summary talking about a compromise solution. Hello,
I replied to your comment on Talk:Adrian Lamo. I'm a dual national. Being Colombian is consequently as relevant as being American. If you have one, you have to have the other, unless you're saying one country is less relevant. Per WP:BLP & WP:SELFPUB, this [1] should serve as sufficient background to establish an uncontroversial fact that's not a conflict of interest.
Cheers & wikilove,

Maybe there is a broader wikipedia policy that justifies this, but I don't think that Lamo's quote, reproduced below, about Chelsea Manning should be edited. Alterations to quotes should generally be made only when necessary for grammatical correctness or to enhance comprehension. While I understand the value of acknowledging the identities of trans people, as well as the harm that deadnaming can cause, I don't think this justifies altering the quote. In its original form, Lamo's comment, using male pronouns, is grammatically correct but factually incorrect, making this edit an attempt to retroactively correct Lamo. Such changes, if implemented as a broader policy, could lead to more troubling results. Would it be acceptable to similarly edit a comment made by a transphobic individual where they deliberately misgender someone? Doing so would create a false impression about the speaker. I understand that this is a sensitive question, and I hope that some thought could be given to establishing a formal policy if such changes are indeed called for.
