Garside had a real Chinese name. He could write in Chinese, and his Chinese name appears in Chinese language documents in the archives. See k9wbm5iBh_&sig=ACfU3U2cl-DIBHTH4IhuiYrsn1DL4BC9_w&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjM1aOPrqftAhWNjVkKHY9JBagQ6AEwEnoECAoQAg#v=onepage&q=葛思德%20garside&f=false

I'm changing the translation of 五嶽 from "Big Five" to the more correct "Five Mountains." The 台灣五嶽 is a reference to the 五岳 in Mainland China, which are usually translated as the "Five Sacred Mountains." See the Wikipedia article for 五嶽.
